Is Pink the New White?

Nowadays more and more couples do away with the traditional wedding and have their own desired wedding. One popular choice is to have coloured wedding dresses, and the most popular colour seems to be pink. Pink wedding dresses have become fashionable as the colour denotes romance and femininity. Pink has also been dubbed the ‘new white’. If you want a pink wedding dress for your big day, here are some things to keep in mind.

The Many Shades of Pink

Some brides will raise an eyebrow at the mention of a pink wedding dress as they immediately see Barbie in a pink gown. In reality, there are many different shades of pink that you can choose from, depending on what you like.

Some prefer the eye catching bright shades, while others tend to go for subtle and close to the traditional white shades. You may have a tough time picking out a shade if you consider your choices: baby pink, rose, shell, pearl, champagne, iridescent pink, blush, cotton candy ink, fuchsia, mauve and magenta.

Normally, the lighter shades of pink are the perfect options for weddings.

What Kind of Style Should You Pick for Your Pink Wedding Dress?

Since pink is a romantic colour, pink wedding dresses come in various feminine and romantic styles. Choose from ball gown style dresses or even A-line dresses. Pink wedding dresses usually have sweetheart or scoop necklines and have accents such as crystal, beading and lace, as after all, what could be more romantic than a lace bridal gown?

If you shy away from totally pink dresses, there’s no reason why you can’t have pink accents in your white wedding gown. You can add a pink sash or some pink lace trim or even have some beautiful pink embroidery on your dress.

Where To Look For Pink Wedding Dresses

Once you’ve decided that you want a pink wedding dress, you’ll need to know where to buy them. Designer labels will often have pink wedding dresses. Of course not all of us can afford a designer dress.

What you can do is to have a seamstress make the dress for you or add some accents to a dress that you’ve purchased. Or, you could enquire in certain bridal shops as some will dye a dress for you in a shed of your liking.

More and more bridal shops are beginning to sell pink wedding dresses as the colour is hot and becoming more popular. Some of them can be found cheap online.
